North is pretty minimum for the 3♣ overcall and shouldn't carry on over South's raise. At MPs there is quite a risk that a spade fit might be missed thus x is possibly better, (and when u put down dummy for pard's diamond contract, maybe a pre-emptive "sorry" is in order!)
