  1. I opened 1C as East and unfortunately partner bids 1S. I struggle to value my hand and was worried about reversing overstating it's value. So rather than bidding 2H I bid 3C which partner passes. I'm just looking for heart support and if I get it 4H is on because my hand is worth 19 with a heart fit. I did consider opening 2D as 18-22 points unbalanced but all the Tuesday night players tell me that is a shitty bid and I am trying to wean myself off it. But missed a game here.

  2. 1. The correct response over 1C is 1H. You should bid four-card suits up the line pretty much irrespective of strength.

    2. 3C and 2H both show around the same strength at least at the minimum end of the range. Therefore you should prefer 2H over 3C.

    3. With 13 opposite 6 you will miss game some of the time. So I wouldn't worry about that too much.

    I would recommend something like

    1C 1H
    3H

    or

    1C 1H
    4H

but I do not really like well understrength hands with distributional hands jumping to game. This time you have just enough control and both aces are in front of the kings so they can't cause you any damage. Another time the handling will be awkward when partner has a minimum.
