West's X is odd. a) he doesn't have enough points or right shape, and b) pard is a passed hand so NS are likely to end up playing the hand which means west has indicated to declarer where values are if he needs to make a choice.
Case in point. Declarer should have a 2 way finesse guess for the DQ (if not led). With the X he is always going to guess right.
