East decision is relatively simple. He has 5 losers. If he goes 3 light doubled it will be no MPs, if he goes 2 light it will be a lot of MPs assuming NS can make 5C. But can they? And why do u believe they will bid it if oppo are left to their own devices? After all pard's WJO is designed in part to mess with their fine bidding system.

The double of 2S is a negative double. It brings hearts into the picture and thus is more flexible than 3C and shows more of north's values.
