In Acol 3S is NF, but clearly this partnership it was forcing and not only forcing but propelled the hand that was limited to start using "suit gerber".
I agree 3S is NF in Acol but it is highly invitational indicating 13+ pts and 6 card suit. It should only be passed if there is a misfit. With this information it is not unreasonable with a maximum for south to make a slam try. If they had 'suit Roman key card blackwood' in their agreement instead of 'suit gerber' they would probably get to slam with the 2 key cards and Q of trumps response taking the chance the missing A&K weren't in same suit.
It can't be 13+ and NF, surely?. More like 11-12 and NF, at least that is what my "bible" says. I have 2 bibles both say NF, the other doesn't say the hcp required for the jump rebid.
This of course gives a problem for ACOl if you do have 13+ and a good 6 card suit, what do u do. Bid game and hope the misfit, if any, is not too bad? Wayne has a 2NT gadget to assist with these hands.
Try "Prefect Minimum" and see if u get to slam. Give pard KQS, AH, KC. Looks like a heart loser and club loser are still possible aside from the AC. Obviously certain distributions may get u there, but note that after drawing trumps there may be no second entry for the diamonds if they don't run.
