  1. What does 2NT mean in this sequence? It should mean that they were planning to bid 1NT over a 1♥ response (15-17), or 2NT (18-19). 3♣ is better, after which South should bid 3♠ (stopper showing and asking about diamonds), North then bids 3NT.

  2. South should make a takeout double (negative double) rather than bidding a four-card suit in this auction.
