Why does south bid 2 D? Doubling then bidding a new suit shows a lot different hand. At the other table west bid 1 H on a 2 count which usually backfires. South has an adequate hand to double with, but no extra values, therefore has an easy pass over 2 C. Bidding for bidding's sake is not a good idea.
