  1. Competing against strong bids the general advice to bid as high as possible quickly as
    possible. Low level bids are particularly bad because it improves the range of bids available
    to the oppo, eg here 2 ¨ takes up no bidding space, but gives oppo P, X as new available bids
    to define their hand.
    Here bidding two suits like this simply gives oppo time to share info and decide X is a good
    spot.
    2 NT (Unusual) soaks up space.
