  1. On the bidding I think East is being a little optimistic with 3S. Assuming this is ACOL 1NT shows 15-17. It's a nice minimum, but has a negative feature being the 4333 and hence no practical ruffing value.

    West needs to explore for slam after 3S. Consider the Perfect Minimum test - AQS, AKH, KD, only 16hcp, yet East has shown a max.

  2. Assuming the 1NT rebid is 15-17 I would bid:

    1C 1S
    1N 3D - for me this shows 55 and game forcing.
    ...

    Even east can imagine slam now. Something like

    Will make 6S reasonable.

    I would then bid 3S and any encouragement from West should lead to slam.
